The practice / Established 2023 / Sydney
We work at the threshold, where intelligence moves from device to environment.
We make prototypes of intelligence that has left the screen, then find out what people tolerate, notice and miss. Our clients are R&D labs and technology founders. The deliverable is an answer to one question: how quiet does this need to be?
/01 Prototype
Threshold Prototyping
Physical prototypes that test where perception gives out. How quiet a system can be before it is missed. How loud before it is resented.
/02 Map
Futures Mapping
The early signals in ambient and spatial computing, too small yet for an analyst report. We rank them and say which ones will matter, and why.
/03 Roadmap
Ambient Roadmapping
A plan for technology meant to disappear. When it may act. When it has to ask. How you would know it is working when nobody can see it.
Working with us
Start with a question you cannot yet answer. We make something physical that tests it. You get the prototype, the findings and a straight view on whether to keep going.
Founder
Wes Fagan
Wes Fagan founded Aerithic in 2023 as an independent speculative design and research studio. Its subject is presence-based “anchored technology”: what happens when intelligence leaves the screen and settles into rooms, objects and materials.
The studio works across ambient computing, smart materials, holographics and civic intelligence. It builds physical prototypes, places them in real homes, and writes up what it finds as field notes. Threshold Monitor, the Ambient Field System, the Domestic Residency Protocol and The Pip are all studio projects.
Wes has won two Good Design Awards in Digital Product & Service and keynoted Miro Canvas 26 in Sydney in June 2026.
Aerithic is his private practice. Wes also works as Chief Design Officer at Endava. The studio sits outside that role in scope, hours and IP.
Born in Dublin and based in Sydney, he trained in visual communication and human-computer interaction at the National College of Art & Design.
